Kinesio-Taping (KT)

Especially for athletes, KT is an advanced and highly effective joint and muscle treatment and preventative option. Unlike standard athletic taping, KT involves taping in specific patterns which promote support and unloading of compression and pain. It is used with success by NBA, NFL, MLB, MLS and Olympic competitors to prevent injuries, maximize performance and minimize recovery times.

Soft Tissue/Myofascial Therapy

The physicians at Spine and Sports Center of Chicago are experts in this advanced technique. They use applied pressure to the soft tissue, guiding muscle fibers along the correct pathway respecting muscular and joint anatomy. Many conditions respond well to treatment of these soft-tissue structures, including carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, runner’s knee (IT band syndrome), plantar fasciitis and other conditions of overuse, such as tennis or golfers elbow.

Active Release Techniques®

ART combines precise touch with specific patient movements to restore proper function and relieve pain. Our Doctors use applied pressure to the soft tissue, guiding muscle fibers along the correct pathway respecting muscular and joint anatomy. Many conditions respond well to treatment of these soft-tissue structures, including carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, runner’s knee (IT band syndrome), plantar fasciitis and other conditions of overuse, such as tennis or golfer’s elbow.

Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT)

Without a full range of motion and proper use of joints, our backs, necks and extremities become stiff and less mobile, leading to pain, greater loss of movement and dysfunction. MDT, also known as McKenzie Therapy, is a standardized assessment tool, defining and classifying movement problems and recommending appropriate treatment. MDT is often the first step in prescribing effective chiropractic treatment for athletic injuries and conditions limiting performance.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)

Using principles developed by pediatric neurologists in the study of child development, DNS helps patients develop conscious control of individual muscles and body awareness, including posture and respiration, affecting balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture and more. These factors can be critical in treating the underlying causes of lower back pain.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is the insertion of thin filament acupuncture needles into muscles, tendons, or ligaments. As the name states, there is no solution injected. Dry needling is not traditional Chinese acupuncture. When the needle is inserted into the trigger point, or the knot of a muscle, the needle elicits a twitch response. This response helps the tissue to remodel itself and heal. Some benefits of dry needling are: relaxes tight muscles, decreases pain, increases range of motion, and improves the healing of tendinopathy and trigger points in muscles.
