Sports Performance Services Include…
Kinesio-Taping (KT) — Especially for athletes, KT is an advanced and highly effective joint and muscle treatment and preventative option. Unlike standard athletic taping, KT involves taping in specific patterns which promote support and unloading of compression and pain. It is used with success by NBA, NFL, MLB, MLS and Olympic competitors to prevent injuries, maximize performance and minimize recovery times.
Chiropractic Care — Spine and Sports Center of Chicago Doctors are certified in the latest techniques, including spinal manipulation, designed to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Chiropractic care may be the primary treatment option or a supplement to other treatment options for back pain, neck pain and pain in the joints of the arms, legs and extremities.
Soft Tissue/Myofascial Therapy — The physicians at Spine and Sports Center of Chicago are experts in this advanced technique. They use applied pressure to the soft tissue, guiding muscle fibers along the correct pathway respecting muscular and joint anatomy. Many conditions respond well to treatment of these soft-tissue structures, including carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, runner’s knee (IT band syndrome), plantar fasciitis and other conditions of overuse, such as tennis or golfers elbow.
Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) — Without a full range of motion and proper use of joints, our backs, necks and joints become stiff and less mobile, leading to pain, greater loss of movement and dysfunction. MDT, also known as McKenzie Therapy, is a standardized assessment tool, defining and classifying movement problems and recommending appropriate treatment. MDT is often the first step in prescribing effective chiropractic treatment for back pain.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) — Using principles developed by pediatric neurologists in the study of child development, DNS helps patients develop conscious control of individual muscles and body awareness, including posture and respiration, affecting balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture and more. These factors can be critical in treating the underlying causes of lower back pain.
